It was unfortunate to see the Labor Party, teaming up with The Greens and Independent Senators, yet again vote against the Blayney Gold Mine.
This was the last chance in this term of Parliament to see Labor's decision to block the mine on contested cultural claims be overturned.
The Blayney Gold Mine project has undergone rigorous environmental and cultural heritage assessments at both State and Federal levels. These assessments have consistently demonstrated that the project can proceed without causing any harm to the environment or Aboriginal cultural heritage.
While Regis Resources is taking the decision to court, the Coalition has committed to overturning Labor's decision to block the ban if elected.
It seems the only certain way forward for this mine, is under an elected Coalition Government in Canberra.
